Why web analytics are needed

The first program that produced log file reports appeared in 1995. Web analytics was based on these reports and graphical information.

In the early 2000s, there was a need for a new method to collect and analyze information as websites were becoming too complex.

So came the JavaScript code that collects data as soon as a visitor goes to a website page. The database stores all the results of the work he has done.

After the appearance of JS-code, the problems of web analytics became interested in the search engines Google. In 2005 the widespread and today’s system Google Analytics was developed, in 2006, users were able to freely use it.

The primary goal is to track what customers do and identify vulnerabilities for improvement.

The information collected in this process helps to:

  • Identify the target audience and create a portrait of it;
  • identify weaknesses of the site in terms of customers and optimization;
  • identify the needs of the CA in terms of functionality;
  • to make a scenario of users’ actions;
  • to find new advertising channels;
  • reduce the price of attracting one client or his action;
  • to reveal errors;
  • increase conversion rate.
