Gary Angel

Gary Angel

Gary Angel is President and CTO at Semphonic. Angel co-founded Semphonic and has led and developed our industry-leading online measurement practice.

Since our founding, Gary has led the consulting teams for our largest enterprise clients. His ground-breaking work in hands-on web analytics includes the development of Functionalism (our public-domain methodology for tactical web analysis), pioneering work in the creation of SEM analytics as a discipline, and numerous methodological improvements to the field of web analytics and the study of online behavior.

Gary's background in CRM, survey analysis, database marketing and large-scale data mining and business-intelligence have helped keep Semphonic at the leading-edge of online measurement. He has spoken at countless conferences including the X Change Conference, SMX, AIM, EUCI, OMMA Global, eMetrics and The Red Door Speaker Series. He's also a regular on the "Beyond Web Analytics" Podcast. X Change Web Analytics Conference is Gary's original concept and idea.

Prior to founding Semphonic, Angel created and implemented multi-million dollar database marketing and CRM systems for Fortune 500 companies including VISA, Bank of America, and American Express. Angel graduated, with honors, from Duke University in North Carolina.

Greg Dowling

Greg Dowling

Greg Dowling is Vice President of Mobile Strategy and Measurement at Semphonic. Dowling is an expert in mobile measurement and enterprise analytics with over 15 years of professional experience in Web site technology and operations. He leads the company's New York office and has extensive expertise ranging from content management systems and e-commerce platforms, to site search, user centered design, and e-mail and search engine marketing.

Since joining Semphonic in 2010, Dowling has taken the lead on the company's ‘SMART' mobile program. His work has included hands-on analysis of massive quantities of consumer data, measurement strategy and enablement, and the formulation of best practices frameworks for Web site analytics. He's spoken at a number of conferences including the X Change Conference, eMetrics, Shop.org, Omniture Summit, and Internet Retailer.

Prior to joining Semphonic, Dowling was Head of Analysis at Nokia. Preceding his work at Nokia he was Vice President of Strategy and Analysis at Digitas. He also worked for Jupiter Research as a Senior Analyst. Dowling graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Geology from LIU Southampton College in New York.

Jon Entwistle

Tom Cattapan

Jon Entwistle is an expert in translating business requirements into clearly defined strategies for online success, and has led implementation projects in e-commerce, non-profit, and media sectors, as well as projects tracking mobile and Facebook applications. Jon is also an expert in large-scale data integration and log file reporting and analysis using SQL, and currently manages the web analytics and call center data for American Express Merchant Services. Jon holds a B.S. from Georgia Tech and an M.S. from UC Berkeley, and is a certified professional in both Adobe SiteCatalyst and Google Analytics.

Jesse Gross

Jesse Gross

Jesse Gross is Vice President of Analytics at Semphonic. Gross specializes in advanced analytics, report creation, tool implementation and deep-dive analyses. He is a noted authority on Excel-based reporting for Web analytics and regularly conducts mentored training in the hands-on use of analytics tools and report development.

Since joining Semphonic in 2006, Gross has led analytic and reporting initiatives for companies including Intuit, Charles Schwab, American Express, Kohler, Nokia, Turner and National Geographic. He's spoken at the X Change Conference and on a variety of webinar panels.

Prior to joining Semphonic, Gross was a Finance Department Analyst at Dovetail Contract Furniture Ltd. in London. Gross received a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Whitman College in Washington.

Allison Hartsoe

Allison Hartsoe

Allison Hartsoe is Vice President of Analytics at Semphonic. Hartsoe, an experienced manager and builder of online services, is the head of Semphonic's Portland office. She has spent over a decade creating, measuring and optimizing internet businesses. Hartsoe is an Omniture Certified Professional and Google Analytics Independent Consultant.

Since joining Semphonic in 2009, Hartsoe has managed complex site deployments, written global standards, and combined external data with analytic data for business intelligence analysis. She has been featured on NPR, CNBC, CNN and has spoken at eMetrics, eBay Live, and Internet World.

Prior to joining Semphonic, Hartsoe founded Aspyro, an eBay analytics firm, and iSyndicate, the first internet syndication company. She was also Director of Business Development for Vericept. Hartsoe received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University. She has bicycled across the United States, climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and hiked the Great Wall of China.

Phil Kemelor

Phil Kemelor

Phil Kemelor is Vice President of Strategic Analytics at Semphonic. Kemelor, a noted author and speaker on Web analytics, is the head of Semphonic's Washington, DC office. He has spent over a decade supporting enterprise level clients and has a breadth of hands-on Web analytics experience.

Since joining Semphonic in 2007, Kemelor has led the company's strategic planning, government and nonprofit practices. He is the lead analyst for The CMS Watch Web Analytics Report, a semi-annual evaluation of web analytics software vendors and the author of The Executive's Guide to Web Site Measurement and Testing.

Prior to joining Semphonic, Kemelor co-founded and served as Principal Consultant for NetGenesis. He also headed the Web analytics programs at Bell Atlantic and Web development, business process and operations initiatives for Verizon, SAIC and the United States Postal Service. Kemelor received a Bachelor of Arts in Radio-TV-Film from The University of Maryland.

Paul Legutko

Paul Legutko is Vice President of Analytics at Semphonic. Legutko has over a decade of experience in research and analysis with a specialty in designing and applying analytical solutions to a wide range of datasets and problems. He leads Semphonic's Boston office and is an expert in Web design, data management and statistical analysis.

Since joining Semphonic in 2004, Legutko has overseen a number of challenging Web analytics and SEM analysis projects. He is a lead contributor to many of the research and design initiatives which are the framework for the company's software and consulting solutions.

Prior to joining Semphonic, Legutko was a data analyst and research consultant at the Center for the Social Organization of Schools. He oversaw the design, processing and analysis of hundreds of thousands of surveys and tests. He was able to quadruple the center's data capture and cut data processing costs in half. Legutko received a Doctorate and Masters degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University.

Chris Meares

Chris is a web analytics consultant with over 8 years of experience in deep dive analysis and providing actionable recommendations to a variety of web based clients in various industries. Chris has experience in the entire web analytics process, from gathering business requirements, to implementation, and reporting using multiple web analytics vendors ranging from Adobe's Omniture suite to Google Analytics. Prior to joining Semphonic in May of 2011, Chris was the head of web analytics at philly.com, one of the largest media websites in the United States.

Ryan is a Web analyst, officially certified in Google Analytics, Omniture and Unica, specializing in implementations, report development, segmentation and analysis. From gathering business requirements and implementing comprehensive web analytic solutions to developing actionable reporting, Ryan has a wealth of experience in the entire web analytic process.


Lisa Welchman

Lisa Welchman

Lisa Welchman is a thought leader in corporate Web strategy and governance. Lisa helps executives and senior Web strategists struggling with the changes the Internet has wrought counseling them on how to overcome the organizational roadblocks which hinder corporate online efforts. Clients at The World Bank, Thomson Reuters, Research in Motion, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency turn to Lisa to help them better manage their organizations in the digital age.

Prior to starting her consulting practice in 1999, Lisa worked at Cisco Systems where she helped build an Internet publishing infrastructure that managed the whopping 800,000 pages of Cisco.com. Lisa has sparked debate and dialogue globally about Web strategy through her blog posts, articles and presentations. She’s been featured in The New York Times, and she’s written for The CBS Interactive Network, InternetEvolution.com, CIO Insight, Intranets, and Baseline Magazine.

She’s a sought-after speaker who presents at conferences around the globe, including the 2010 United Nations Private Sector Forum where she participated in dialogue amongst, industry leaders, CEOs and heads of state regarding how to utilize technology to accelerate the meeting of the Millennium development goals.

Lisa holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina and was a Philosophy Fellow at Columbia University.
